Rainhill Trials virtual museum

The Rainhill Trials 1829 is a new and fully interactive 'virtual museum' has been launched by St.Helens Council to commemorate the Trials, the event which marked the birth of British railways and the dawn of the ‘Age of Speed’. Railway enthusiasts and local historians have contributed to this unique tribute to the world-changing event. It's really an education website for children, but there's plenty to entertain and inform us adults as well. I rather liked a three minute video of the train journey from Manchester to Liverpool in 2008, as seen both from the driver's cab and from the rear of the train, but it was a pity that it didn't have a soundtrack. I also found it a little slow at downloading video films, but this may just be my computer.
